I am currently sitting in an air conditioned living room in Miami Beach, Florida and as much as I love my flip flops and seeing my lovely sister and her boyfriend, walking around in humidity filled heat in the middle of winter is odd. This little trip has reminded me just how stoked I am about being placed in a country that goes through all four seasons, especially winter. I've heard that Reno doesn't experience "real" cold and that my tune will most likely change after being under a never ceasing grey sky and surrounded by walls of dirty snow for months, but, as I walk through crowds of scantily clad swimmers traipsing through a tropical paradise, I feel distinctly out of step with normality and crave my mittens and scarf.
My mom and I will be driving back to Reno from Miami Beach soon. It's a heckuva long drive, but I'm thoroughly looking forward to it. I've never driven across the country and it seems like a pretty decent way to say fair well to the good ol' US for a couple of years.

Speaking of flip flops! The other day I had mine on in the house and hopped into the car to run an errand...oops...! Reno may not be COLD, but everything is relative, no?
Have a safe trip!
Melanie's Aunt Sue-z here. Do you mind if I enjoy your blog?
I heard some bad weather is heading towards Reno right now...which is a bit troubling because we'll be driving from Vegas to Reno on Friday...the flip flops have been officially put away :(
Of course! Any friend/relative of Mel is a friend of mine and I would be honored to have your readership :)
Hey Sweety, Hope you have a safe trip up, Reno is getting pounded right now! We ought to get together before you take off! TYFN!
The drive was interesting...we expected much worse, but went through about an hour of intense wind and rain. At least that's how the newscaster reported it, "areas of intense wind and rain." But all is well.
Yes. i'd like to see tweet cheeks before i leave. very much so.
TYFN? Tell Your Friends No? Thank You For Noodling? Ta Ya For Now?
