Dates
With my departure being two months away, dates have taken on new meaning. Each date I hear or see is added to either the "still here" or the "gone" list. For instance, I bought groceries today and the juice I tossed in the cart had an expiry date of February 20th, instantaneously adding it to the "gone" list. Although I'll probably finish it before then, I will no longer be in Reno when that juice has officially passed its prime. I also got my car's oil changed and the new sticker they attached to the windshield says the car is due for its next service on March 8th. Not only will I no longer be here, but I will no longer own the car. It's a bit of an odd feeling, taking in all these dates that are being handed to me as if my life in three, four, five months will be just as it is now and knowing it will be anything but.

Why the pick up sticks? BTW, I'll be in Reno from the 25th til the 31st. We need to hang out BIG TIME. Before "gone."
when i created this blog, i didn't know its purpose and was trying to come up with a name, and the pick up sticks just popped in there. i liked the game as a kid and i think it's kinda symbolic of life - trying to carefully pick up all the little sticks offered to you without disturbing the balance of all the other sticks. and it sounded cool. i dunno.
CURSES. i'm leaving on the 26th for florida and won't be back till the 6th :( when do you get in on the 25th? i think my flight leaves at 11am on the 26th...ugh. stupid sticks!
