Today

The day began with students silently reading about a dead giraffe while the rain upset the puddles outside and a quiet piano cover of Where is My Mind played in the background. I thought about how peaceful sorrow can be and wondered if my students could feel it, too. Much later I took a taxi home with my friends and sang the lyrics to Fievel Goes West in my head and thought about how it'll feel in the morning to wake up if it's still raining. For all of today, I didn't want to be anywhere else.
